Karla D. Wetzel, 56, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
A Memorial Prayer Service will be 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2023, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A visitation will be one-hour prior at the funeral home.
Karla is survived by her daughter Jaide Wetzel (Brian Berg) of Fort Dodge, grandsons Ryan, Tuxley, Axeton, Brooks, siblings Ann and Ron Schmidt of Fort Meyers, FL, Steve and Jody Caldwell of Colorado Springs, CO, Denny and Jamie Caldwell of Jesup, Dave and Joyce Caldwell of Fort Dodge, Lana and Dave Chase of Florence, CO, Ginger and Jeff Kondrath, Gregg and Kathy Bishop both of Twin Lakes, Donnette and Steven Sather of Spooner, WI. She also survived by close friends that were like sisters Staci (Tim) Blair and Dawn Potter.
Meeting her in heaven is her son Coleton, parents LeRoy and Bonnie (Hammen) Caldwell, niece Carrie Bishop, nephews Kennick Bishop and Shawn Caldwell and her sister-in-law, Sheila Caldwell.
Karla Dianne Caldwell was born November 27, 1967. She attended Central Webster Schools where she excelled as an athlete, especially in softball. After high school, she attended college and then used her degree to be the secretary for the Burnside school for many years. On October 14, 1989, she was married to Steve Wetzel. The couple divorced but remained close friends. For the last 19 years, Karla worked as a care provider. Karla loved spending time with her grandsons the most and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
