Katherine C. Winninger, 92, of Fort Dodge passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. There will be a visitation one hour prior Wednesday at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Barnum. There will be a visitation Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a C.D. of A. Rosary and Legion of Mary Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a vigil at 7:00 p.m. Katherine is survived by her children, Kathy (Howard) Minor of Humboldt; Robert (Patty) Winninger; Susie Newsum; Gary (Jolene) Winninger; Mark Winninger all of Fort Dodge; Mary Ann Winninger of Carroll; Maureen Winninger-Birkey of Manson; John (Darlene) Winninger of Duncombe; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Marie Hogan and sister-in-laws, Mary Cain and LaVonne Winninger. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joe in 2002; sisters, Eileen Meyer; Sister Innocentia Alice Knudson; Beatrice Schreiber; Veronica Cornell; brothers, Al, Roy, and Leo Meyer. Katherine C. Meyer was born the ninth of ten children to Albert and Kathryn (Hood) Meyer on July 31, 1922 in Clare. She was educated in the Catholic schools in both Clare and Fort Dodge. She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1940. Prior to marriage, she first worked at the Boston Store and then First National Bank in Fort Dodge. Katherine was united in marriage to Henry "Joe" Winninger on February 12, 1945 at Corpus Christi Church. To this union eight children were born. Katherine and Joe established their home on a farm east of Barnum until 2000 when they moved to Fort Dodge. Katherine was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Catholic Daughters of America. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home of Fort Dodge, New Hope Village of Carroll, or Holy Trinity Parish. The family would like to give thanks for the care at Bickford Cottages and for the comfort and care given from the staff at the Paul J. Baber Hospice Home.
