Kathleeen J. Kapustka, 75, Fort Dodge died Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Private family funeral mass will be held. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Kathy is survived by her husband James; son Michael (Dawn) Kapustka of West Des Moines and his children, Claire, Jack, Issac and Noah; daughter Lisa (Matt) Huguenard and their son Thomas of Porter, IN; son Jason Kapustka of Humboldt; daughter Amy (Dan) Boyce and their children Isla and Hayes of Urbandale; mother Florence Newberry of Fort Dodge; siblings Sue Krohne of Kansas City, MO; Tim Newberry of Brownsburg, IN; Steve Newberry of Swisher, IA. She was preceded in death by her father John Newberry and brother Terry Newberry. Kathleen Joan Newberry was born June 22, 1944 in Omaha, NE. When she was young her family moved to Fort Dodge where she attended Corpus Christi School and graduated from Saint Edmond High School in 1962. On November 28, 1964 Kathy was united in marriage to James Kapustka at Corpus Christi Church. Kathy worked as a secretary for Iowa Beef from 1963 until 1968. In 1985, she became the first female director for St. Joseph's Church, Barnum. She also was the secretary and director of religious education for St. Joseph's. She transitioned as a secretary for Holy Trinity Parish when St. Joseph's closed. Kathy retired in 2009. Kathy was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Rosary Society, Tri-T from 1979 to 1997 and volunteered at the Food Pantry. Memorials may be left to St. Edmond Catholic Schools.
