Kay Frances (Bronner) Helland, 83, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Bode. Burial will follow at the St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. A visitation will be 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 at the church in Bode. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Born June 8, 1937 to Alvina Edna (Torkelson) Bronner and Kenneth Albert Bronner at Mercy Hospital in Cresco, Iowa. Baptized July 25, 1937 at First Lutheran, Cresco, Iowa. Confirmed May 20,1951at St. Olaf, New Hampton, Iowa. Graduated from High School Department at Waldorf College,1955. She graduated from Waldorf College in 1957. Accepting a 2nd grade teaching position at Twin Rivers School, she became a resident of Bode, Iowa in 1957. May 23, 1959, Kay married Clifford A. Helland at St. Olaf Lutheran in Bode, Iowa. Kay joined Cliff sharing farming life. She owned and operated "The Joy Shop" for several years. Kay served in various areas of the church, especially as a Sunday school teacher, offices of women organizations, church council, and Bible studies. Being with family and friends were her joy. Another joy Kay had was listening to gospel and religious music shared by her husband. She is survived by her husband, Clifford, three children, Candace (Dan) Shiflett of Humboldt; David (Deb) Helland of Minot, ND; Paul (Tami) Helland of Garner; six grandchildren, Cory(Rachael) Helland, Fond du Lac, WI; Kelsey (Ben) Thompson, Algona; Janey(Logan)Skelley, Helena, MT; Alyssa (Dave) Parrish, Omaha, NE; Calvin Helland, Cedar Falls; Ben Helland Fargo, ND; two step-grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah) Remmers, Watertown, SD; Wendy Remmers, Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren, Corver and Jovalie Thompson; Maddison and Luka Helland; Lexi Woodland; two sisters, Judy Johnson and Gayleen Dunphy both of Humboldt; half-brother, Craig (Debbie) Bronner of Kalispell, MT; two sisters-in-law, Dianna Helland of Hudson, WI and Orlinda (Charles) Hauck of Le Mars, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Alvina Hansen and Kenneth Bronner, in-laws, Clarence and Adela Helland, brothers-in-law, Robert Helland, Floyd Johnson and George Dunphy. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
