Kay I. Miller, 84, of Gowrie passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City.***Out of concern for those who knew and loved Kay, because of the Corona virus (COVID-19) Funeral services and visitation will be held at a later date at Zion Lutheran Church in Gowrie. Kay Ilene (Burger) Miller, daughter of Virgil and Elna (Moranville) Jones was born June 10, 1935 in Dana, Iowa. She graduated from Dana High School in 1953. Kay married Arlo Martin Burger on June 27, 1953 at Ft. Bliss, Texas where Arlo was serving in the US Army in the Korean War. They lived at El Paso, Texas and Annadale, Virginia before coming home to Gowrie in 1955. They farmed in the Thor, Iowa and Gowrie, Iowa areas, moving into their new home in Gowrie in November 1997. Arlo passed away on April 28, 1999. Kay was a homemaker and helpmate with the farming. She was well known as a fantastic cook and baker with her family, friends and farm help. Kay was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gowrie where she served as Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher and served on the church council and various other church committees. She was a member of church choir for several years and was a soloist. Kay was a member of the American Legion of Gowrie Womans Club, Webster County Association for Special Needs Children, International Bowling Association and Red Hat Society. She also served on the Gowrie Library Board, City Council and Ambulance Board. Kays hobbies were making porcelain dolls, bowling, dancing, music, reading, traveling, cooking, baking, quilting, and sewing. Kay was an AVID shopper. She loved shopping at Younkers and Dillards. She enjoyed yard work and working with flowers. She LOVED the color purple and especially enjoyed her family and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kay married Dale Rex Miller on August 2, 2003. They so enjoyed each other and their life together. They were active in their church and community and spent their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona. Kays survivors include husband Dale Miller of Gowrie. Three daughters, Starla Kay (Rick) Smith of Boone, Shelly Kim (Don) Weston of Callender, Shawn Renee Burger of Carroll. Three grandchildren, Sheralyn Kay (Chris) Page of Boone, Ryan Curtis (Kaitlyn Schultz) Weston of West Des Moines, Aaron Matthew (Brittany) Weston of Yankton, South Dakota. Great grandsons, Bryant Stone Weston, Deklan Kinnick Parker Page, Griffin Kennedy Thomas Page and Adriel Boez Weston. Great granddaughters Averi Grace Weston, Ariana Faith Weston, Anaya Hope Weston and Austyn Marie Shandera. Stepchildren, Heidi (Mark) Blair of Paton, Steve (Linda Aaker) Miller of Humboldt, South Dakota, Scott (Jan) Miller of Paton, Shannon (Beth) Miller of Harcourt, Holly (Tom) Shook of Marble Rock and Stacy (Jill) Miller of Harcourt. Step grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Allen, Michelle Blair, Jessica (Tony Johnson) Miller, Justine (Nathan Hodson) Miller, John Miller, Fallon (Todd) Michalski, Tanner (Holly) Miller, Tristan (Madison Hirsch) Miller, Rex Miller, Holden Miller, Lincoln Miller, Kayla (Jordon) Groff, Dale Jeffrey, Kari Jeffrey, Wyatt Miller, Sadie Miller, Mae Miller. Step greatgrandchildren, Abby Allen, Mack Allen, Doss Allen, Dessa Johnson, Lennon Lindsey, Emmy Hodson, Makenzie Michalski, Brooks Miller, and soon to be here baby Groff. In Laws Alan and Nancy Burger, Denny and Darla Miller, Lois Brinkman, Carol Miller, and Jerry Paullin. Also many nieces, nephews and many friends. Preceding Kay in death were her first husband Arlo Martin Burger in 1999, her father Virgil in 1968, her mother Elna in 1999, her son Randy Kip Burger in 1956, grandson Corydon Michael Weston in 1977, stepgrandson Ty Andrew Scott Miller in 1988, and great grandson Peyton Arlo Curtis Page in 2011. Sisters in laws Barbara Rabbitt, Joanne Lennarson, Beth Underwood, Marty Paullin. Brothers in law Tom Rabbitt, Jon Lennarson, Bob Underwood, Lloyd Miller and Martin Brinkman. Jim Davis VISITATION A visitation will be held at later date. INTERMENT Lost Grove Cemetery, Harcourt.
