February 27, 1960 — July 13, 2024

Kelly McKenney, 64, of Otho passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home surrounded by her loves.


A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024 New Covenant Christian Church with Pastor Doug Rushton officiating. A visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.


Kelly is survived by her husband Ken, children Shaunya (Aaron) Smith of Wesley, Anne Ostwald (Jason Carney) of Boone, Brandon Ostwald (Stephanie) of Algona, Laura McKenney (Kevin) of Cedar Falls, grandchildren Kaitlyn, Blake, Tysen, twins Alaina and Bailey, Skylar, Preston, and Landon. She is also survived by her siblings Kevin (Jennifer) Albertson, Kyle (Lana) Albertson, Keith (Deb) Albertson, Kim Preston, in-laws Dennis (Judy) McKenney and Andy Birkland.


She was preceded in death by her parents Marlyn and Joan (Haan) Albertson, stepdaughter Heather McKenney, and brother-in-law Lyle Preston.


Kelly Jean Albertson was born February 27, 1960, in Forest City. She was raised in Wesley, Iowa and graduated from Algona High School. After raising her children, Kelly went back to school and received her AA Degree in Liberal Arts form Iowa Lakes Community College. On September 26, 2004, Kelly was married to Kenneth McKenney and the couple made their home in a cabin in the woods of Otho. Kelly was Ken’s right-hand woman. She farmed and helped run their tax business, Iowa Farm Business. In her free time, Kelly loved to bird watch and had an amazing green thumb. The light of her life was her family, especially her grandchildren.
