Kenneth C. Pommer, 84, of Otho passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29th in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Msgr. Kevin McCoy, officiating. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Lehigh with Military Graveside Rites Conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ken is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Kendal Pommer and Janet Tacker of Otho; Melanie Fortney and her husband Steve of Fort Dodge; Kent Pommer of Otho; Kendra Crapser and husband Brant of Eagle Grove; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and brother, Marvin Pommer and his wife Margaret of Des Moines. He is preceded in death by his parents, Malvin and Mercedes (Kenan) Pommer; daughter, Marcell Rasch; grandson, Nicholas Pommer. Kenneth Charles Pommer was born July 22, 1930 in Berkley, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Dana and graduated from Dana High School in 1950. Kenneth then became employed with Tobin Packing in Fort Dodge. He served in the United States Navy from January of 1951 to October of 1954. He was united in marriage to Donna Van Hooser on December 12, 1953 at Sacred Heart Church in Boone. The couple first lived in Boone before establishing their home in Fort Dodge in 1957. The couple then moved to Otho in 1960. Ken continued to work for Tobins and retired from Hormel's in 1983. Kenneth was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. He was an avid fisherman and loved to hunt. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
