Kenneth Frederick Freund

Kenneth "Kenny" F. Freund, 61, of Otho, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Preston Sandstrom officiating. Burial will be at Otho Cemetery. A visitation will be 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Kenny is survived by his wife, Patty; daughter, Christine (Brian) Degner of Rockport, TX; grandchildren, Nathan; Angela; Randy; Allison; step-mother, Donna Freund; step-brother, Steve Grettenberg (Darla Trenary); sister-in-law, Jean (Dan) Even; brother-in-law, Michael (Mary) Lahiff; mother-in-law, Marlene Lahiff; six nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth O. Freund and Lois Freund; father-in-law, Emmett Lahiff; and family dog, Patches. Kenneth Frederick Freund was born May 19, 1955 in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1973. He began work at Roberts Cooperative Elevator, now known as New Cooperative, Otho Branch in May of 1973. Kenny worked at the Coop until health issues forced him to retire in 2009. Kenny was elected as mayor and a council member of Otho. Kenny was united in marriage to Patricia "Patty" Jo Lahiff in Clare on August 27, 1976. During retirement, Kenny enjoyed spending as much time as possible with the grandchildren, family and friends. Kenneth enjoyed camping in the summer and snowmobiling in the winter. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
