Rockwell City Kenneth J. Kocour 90, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Rockwell City, and Missouri Valley, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Visitation and viewing will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. There will also be a visitation 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the United Methodist Church in Missouri Valley followed by a Graveside Service at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Missouri Valley. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Kenneth is survived by his wife Mary of 67 years; children, Susan Wolter of Manson, Darrell (Cheryl) Kocour of Lake City, Karen (Steve) Gorden of Lake City, Keith (Michelle) Kocour of Fairfield, Janet (Doug) Martin of Dakota Dunes, SD, Kent Kocour of Pella, and Kurt Kocour of Lake City; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; brother Larry (Pat) Kocour of Missouri Valley; sister-in-law Sara Kocour of Missouri Valley; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson Peyton Murray; parents, Frank and Christena (Reker) Kocour; sisters, Shirley Behm and Burdell Stirtz; brother Donald Kocour; and son-in-law Randy Wolter. Kenneth James Kocour was born May 29, 1931 at North Bend, Nebraska. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School with the Class of 1949. On May 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Lundergard at Missouri Valley, Iowa. In 1955, Ken served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1957. Ken farmed for a short time near Magnolia, before working for Deere and Company in financial services area of Omaha and East Moline. He moved his family to Rockwell City in 1972 where he worked for Deere Insurance Company, servicing John Deere dealerships in north-western Iowa until his retirement in 1986. In 2013, they made their home at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. He was a member of United Methodist Church and Rockwell City Lions Club.
