Kenneth John Lawler

Kenneth J. Lawler, 79, of Clare, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2015 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, November 28th in the Chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Clare, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, Clare with Military Rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. A visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Kenny is survived by his brother, Urban James "Jimmy" Lawler and his wife Marianne of Clare; brother-in-law, Kevin Walsh of Moorland; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Urban and Catherine (Mahoney) Lawler; and sister, Mary Ellen Walsh. Kenneth "Kenny" J. Lawler was born October 2, 1936 in Fort Dodge. He was raised and educated in Clare, graduating from St. Matthew's High School in 1955. After graduating high school, Kenny started farming for a couple years before serving in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He returned back to Clare after being Honorably Discharged and continued to farm. Kenny was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Clare, and he served as a Volunteer Fireman for the Clare Fire Department for 43 years. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
