Kermit Rodewald

August 7, 1933 — August 23, 2024

Kermit C. Rodewald, 91, of Somers passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at Laufersweiler’s Palmer-Swank Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery with military rites provided by AMVETS Post 41 of Rockwell City and the United States Army Honor Guard. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Kermit Carl Rodewald was born August 7, 1933 in Rockwell City to Carl and Minnie (Schofield) Rodewald. After his graduation from Rockwell City High School, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, he was united in marriage to Coleen Virginia Miller on August 5, 1956. The couple was blessed with three children; Kim (Jeff) Curry, Carlen (Tracy) Rodewald, and Tracy (Royetta) Rodewald. They were blessed with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren that loved him dearly.

Kerm and Coleen were always on the move vacationing and searching for antiques and treasures. He loved hunting and fishing and his dogs. They both loved gardening, a love Kerm continued long after Coleen passed away in 2005. He was very proud of his giant tomatoes and beautiful irises this summer.

In the end, Kerm was still an elderly, young lad full of wisdom, piss, and vinegar until his very last day. He took great pride in his independence and was fortunate enough to spend all of his days leading a life he chose. His legacy will live on for generations to come in the hearts of those who love him. Our lives are forever blessed by this man, Kermit Carl Rodewald.
