Kevin Michael Hood

Kevin M. Hood, 49, of Virginia formerly of Fort Dodge, passed away on August 20, 2023, in Florida following a short illness. A Rosary will be prayed on Saturday, November 4th at 9:45 AM with a Visitation from 10:00 to 12:00 PM and Celebration of Life service at 12:00 PM all at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include his parents Kathy and Bill Hood of Fort Dodge, sisters Angie Tracy of Fort Dodge, Tina (Chris) Ryan of Brooklyn Park, MN, brothers Tom (Stephanie) Hood of Ankeny, Mark (Jackie) Hood of Elmhurst, IL, his 2 children Ireland and M'Kaylee, 5 stepchildren, 10 nieces and nephews, and his wife. He was preceded by his grandparents Norma and Ed Hayes, Bob and Evelyn Hood. Kevin Michael Hood was born on May 18, 1974, in Fort Dodge. He attended schools here and graduated from St. Edmond High School in 1993. Kevin was an accomplished trumpet player and excelled on the baseball field. After graduating high school, Kevin joined the Army National Guard, where he proudly served his nation for 9 years. Kevin and his family moved to Idaho where he started his career in construction. The family later moved to Texas where Kevin continued to advance in the construction field. He started working as a Superintendent for jobs all over the country and one of his final jobs was in the Bahamas. They finally settled in Virginia. Kevin was a devoted worker and made friends everywhere he went. Kevin enjoyed time with his children and working on his ranch in Virginia. He always put his family first and was a committed and loving father. Kevin had a saying - "It is what it is". He will truly be missed by his parents and siblings. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
