Kurt Pott

Kurt W. Pott, 73 of Fort Dodge, passed away on Sunday, February 13th, 2022. A Celebration of Kurt's Life Saturday, February 19th from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a time of sharing of memories at 4:45 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Survivors include his children Nathan Pott of Mesquite, TX, Elisa (David) Rubin of Fort Dodge, Jared Pott of Fort Dodge, grandchildren Evan and Brennan Pott, Revelle, Sterling, and Eden Rubin, brother Jon (Gwen) Pott of Grand Rapids, MI, sisters Paula (Richard) Brink of Holland, MI, Kathy (Paula) Pott of Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Hazel (Kraai) Pott, and his brother David Pott. Kurt William Pott was born on March 6, 1948, in Zeeland, MI. As a child he was raised in the suburbs of Chicago, eventually moving with his family to Grand Haven, MI, where he attended schools and graduated high school. He then attended Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI and also Grand Valley College MI. From 1968 to 1970, Kurt served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and finished his service in Germany with the Signal Corp. Kurt later continued his education at Grand Valley College. On September 2, 1971, he was united in marriage to Lois Chambers. Kurt then focused on Electronics College and Classes. In 1974, the couple moved to Fort Dodge where they raised their children. The couple were later divorced. Kurt worked at Central Lab for over 10 years and various other places. Kurt later lived in Holland, MI, until the death of his 2nd wife Elaine in 2008, when he returned to Fort Dodge. He enjoyed talking about philosophy, was a talented musician, guitarist, and artist. He was a very good chess player, tennis player, card game player, and liked frisbee golf. Kurt was a longtime friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W. Kurt and Lois remained close friends in their retirement years. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
