Lavida Ann Nelson

LaVida "Vi" Ann Nelson, 86, of Otho passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at her daughter's home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home Rev. Dale Harlow officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Vi is survived by her daughter Shirley and husband Dave of Dubuque; grandson, Chad and wife Jodie, their children, Tyler, Jacob, and Kayla of Dubuque; granddaughter, Kris Shade and her husband Jason, their children Devin and Maddy of Katy, TX; brothers, Jack (Darlene) Montgomery of Lehigh and Gould Jr. (Mert) Montgomery of Kalo. Vi was preceded in death by her parents, Gould and Alice Montgomery; husband, Verne in 2006; infant children, Debra, Betty, and Kenneth; brothers, James, Sherman, and Aaron; sisters, Eva Rank and Vernie Ford; step-sisters, Merle Davis, Opal Litzen, and Hazel Rogers. Vi was born April 9, 1927. She attended school in Lehigh. She was united in marriage to Vernie Nelson on June 3, 1951. Vi worked several jobs in her lifetime. She works at Tobins, Webster City Products, and retired from Wermac in 1989. Vi's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Her talents included crocheting, embroidery, needlepointing, woodworking, and gardening, just to name a few. She loved to camp, fish and travel with her family to Texas and Dubuque.
