Rockwell City Lavon R. Weiss 93, passed away Friday, September 25, 2020 at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Lake City. Funeral Services will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, east of Rockwell City, with Pastor Chadric Dietrich officiating. Burial of casket will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rockwell City. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. The Funeral Service will be live streamed via Immanueltrinitylutheran FaceBook page. Lavon is survived by her daughter Linda Olsen of Rockwell City; granddaughter Kelly (Keith) Kraft of Rockwell City; great-grandsons, Kanne (Kara) Kraft of Rockwell City, and Kwinn Kraft of Cedar Falls; great-great-granddaughters, Kamzie, Kemrie, and Kayna; sister Marjorie Hoefing of Manson; sister-in-law Janis Schofield of Odebolt; brother-in-law Martin Mack of Fort Dodge; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband Thomas Arends; second husband Marvin Weiss; parents, Frederick and Bertha (Ramthun) Schofield; brothers, Louis, Donald, and Duane Schofield; sister Marie Mack; and son-in-law Robert Olsen. Lavon Rose Schofield was born July 22, 1927 at Logan Township, Calhoun Co., Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Lavon graduated from Jolley High School, with the Class of 1944. On April 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to Thomas Arends at Knoke, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sac City. Lavon worked at various businesses in the area including Nobles in Sac City and Arends Variety Store in Lytton. In 1980, they established their home in Rockwell City. Thomas passed away in 1983. In 1986, Lavon married Marvin Weiss in Rockwell City and he passed away in 1989. Lavon was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
