Lavon Rude

LaVon Rude, 90, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday January 24, 2024, at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will take place Wednesday January 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.

LaVon is survived by her son Darrell and his wife Audrey of Polk City, four grandchildren Crystal Bothel, Eric Rude, Mike Rude, and Melissa Gilliam, as well as 8 great grandchildren.

LaVon is preceded in death by her husband Glenn, son Steven, parents John and Christine (Reiff) Wempe, brother Floyd Wempe, and sister, Joan George.

LaVon Susan Wempe was born on June 11, 1933, on the family farm outside of Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge. She attended Corpus Christi schools, graduating from Corpus Christi Academy. On June 24, 1950, she was united in marriage to Glenn H. Rude and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. LaVon enjoyed being a bookkeeper throughout her working career. She was employed as a bookkeeper with Iowa Medical Supply for many years, retiring after 23 years of service.
