LaVonne P. Canavan, 96, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Marian Home. Private graveside services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Corpus Christi Cemetery. LaVonne is survived by her children, Tom Canavan of Fort Dodge, Linda (Gary) Murdock of St. Louis, MO, and Sharon Hannah (Brad Mortenson) of Casa Grande, AZ; grandchildren, Erin Murdock of St. Louis, MO, Andy (Heather) Murdock of Le Claire, Jeremy Canavan of Stuart, and Jon (Jennifer) Canavan of Milwaukee; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis, Lyla, Evelyn, and Jocelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carrie Rice; husband, James Canavan in 1993; siblings, Teresa, Isabelle, Stanley, and a great-grandchild, Ethan. LaVonne Pearl Rice was born August 3, 1924 in Fort Dodge. She attended schools and graduated from Fort Dodge. In 1947, Lavonne was united in marriage to James Canavan in Elk Point, South Dakota and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. She worked for Hormel's and later the Fort Dodge labs where she retired from in the 1980's. LaVonne loved to garden and was an active member in the Methodist Church. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
