Lavonne M. Palmquist

Harcourt - LaVonne Mildred Palmquist, 90, passed away peacefully on May 6th at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN. She was a resident of Colonial Acres Health Care Center in Golden Valley, MN. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Palmer & Swank Funeral Home in Gowrie, IA, with Steve Satre officiating. A visitation will be at 10:00 am Thursday, May 30, prior to the service. Committal service will follow at Lost Grove Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Twin Lakes Bible Camp or Covenant Village of Golden Valley Benevolent Care Fund. LaVonne was born January 24, 1929 in rural Harcourt, Iowa to Joseph and Mildred (Swanson) Anderson. A graduate of Lanyon High School and North Park College in Chicago, she continued her education and received teaching credentials from Iowa State Teachers College. LaVonne taught fifth grade in Paton, IA for four years. She married Wendell Palmquist on June 4, 1955 and the couple were blessed with three children. They farmed her familys Century Farm for nearly fifty years. Most of her life LaVonne was a member of Lanyon Covenant Church where she actively served the Lord she dearly loved in many capacities. She especially used her gifts of teaching and music. LaVonne enjoyed sewing, watching Hawkeye sports and especially loved spending time with her five grandchildren. After Wendell passed away in 2011, she moved from the farmhouse she was born in to Minnesota. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Anderson, brother-in-law Ralph Palmquist and sister-in-law Alice (Palmquist) Hart. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Wolford (Ronald) of Lansing, IL and Lori Gluck (Richard) of Apple Valley, MN; a son, Daniel (Carolyn) Palmquist of Arlington Heights, IL; grandchildren, Matthew Wolford, Andrew and Lisa Gluck, Ryan and Connor Palmquist; sisters-in-law, Mary (Palmquist) Haubold and Beverly Palmquist; brother-in-law Allen Hart as well as several nieces and nephews.
