Leila M Peterson

Leila M. Peterson, 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Friendship Haven. Funeral Services will be May 4, 2022 Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A visitation will be Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Colfax Township Cemetery in Vincent. Leila is survived by her children Lorraine (Mike) Loux of Eagle Grove, Roy (Patty) Peterson of Duncombe, Christine (Robert) Smith of Woodward, Norine Peterson of Fort Dodge, Tamara (Joe) McMahon of Fort Dodge, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, siblings, Edward Zabel of Madison, WI, Gerald Zabel of Duncombe, Jeanine Kopecky of Lohrville, and Marilyn Hanson of Duncombe. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mabel (Wegman) Zabel, husband Franklin Peterson, son Steve "Pete" Peterson, and brothers, Roy and Wayne Zabel. Leila Mae Zabel was born June 23, 1937 in Duncombe. She was raised and educated in Duncombe. On August 29, 1954, Leila was united in marriage to Franklin Peterson. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge. First being a homemaker and then later after the yougest, Steve, started attending school, Leila worked for Pancake Feast. Leila worked for Trinity Regional Medical Center for 19 years before retiring in 2002. She enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, gambling, and movies.
