Lela M. Olson

Lela M. Olson, 89, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2016 at her home in Idaho. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Sacred Heart Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. She is survived by her children, Bruce Olson of Garden Valley, ID; Mary May of Vancouver, WA; JoAnn Olson of Boise, ID; two grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Cyril Hotovec of Freemont, CA; Darrel Hotovec of Pocahontas; Ione Hutchison of Wisconsin; and Ilene Shimon of Pocahontas. Lela was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elise Hotovec; husband, Burdette Olson; brothers, Dean; Duane; Art; Myron; and Florent Hotovec; sister, Jane Gomes. Lela Mary Hotovec was born on December 3, 1926 in Havelock. She was raised in Havelock and graduated from Ware Consolidated School. Lela then attended Mercy School of Nursing in Des Moines and then returned to Fort Dodge and started her employment in Nursing. Lela was united in marriage to Burdette Olson on September 24, 1951 in Pocahontas. Lela worked in the nursing field for 39 years, retiring June 30, 1984 from Trinity Regional Hospital. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
