Leland H. Urelius

Harcourt - Leland Urelius, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Trinity Regional Medical Center, Fort Dodge. Memorial Services for Elizabeth A. Urelius 85, and Leland H. Urelius 78, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Harcourt, with Pastor Kay Christie officiating. A luncheon will follow the Church service. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is serving the family. Leland was born on September 24, 1943 to Harry and Pearl (Baker) Urelius. He was the youngest of five children and grew up on the family farm just outside of Harcourt. He graduated from Central Webster High School in Burnside and later married Linda Cosgrove. They made their home in Harcourt and raised one daughter. Throughout the years he was active in the community by serving on the city council and participating in Harcourt Appreciation Days annual car shows. He was a lifelong member of the Harcourt United Methodist Church where he attended regularly and served as the financial secretary for many years. He enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, crossword puzzles, and DIY projects. He will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor and his love for his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Carl Richardson of Aubrey, TX; grandson, Micah; granddaughter, Rowan; sister, Rita (Ron) Greiner of Bull Shoals, AR; nieces, Shawn (Scott) Tidey of Richmond, VA, Michelle (Jeff) Sherman of Waukee, and Carla (Mike) Goldberg of Clive; nephews, Dan Miller of Pocahontas, and Alvin (Helene) Kelly of Homer, NE; along with grandnieces, grandnephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Pearl (Baker) Urelius; brothers, Marvin Urelius and Norman Urelius; sister Elizabeth Urelius; sister-in-law Ruby Urelius; nephew Scott Urelius; and his infant son Benjamin Lee.
