Leland "Lee" H. Johnson, 87, of Fort Dodge formerly of Lakota, North Dakota passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014 at the Simpson Health Center, Friendship Haven. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014 at the Celebration Center Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, Iowa, with Rev. Anita Johnson officiating. A visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Celebration Center. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. At 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 a funeral service will be at Lakota Lutheran Church in Lakota, North Dakota. Burial will follow at Lakota Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Leland is survived by his wife, Delphine; daughters, Connie Johnson (Deb Huff) of Victorville, CA; Ardy (Jim) Rydell of Waterloo; son, Casey (Deb) Johnson of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Matt Johnson of Fort Dodge; Nick Johnson of Ames; Krissy (Matt) Halbur of Cedar Falls; two great-granddaughters, Haylie and Josie Halbur; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Ida (Kilstadius) Johnson and brother, Irwan Johnson. Leland H. Johnson was born February 16, 1927 in Lakota, North Dakota. He was raised and educated in Lakota. On November 4, 1949 he was united in marriage to Delphine Walden in Michigan, ND. Leland worked in the automobile business in sales for 20 years. He worked for Rydell Chevrolet in Grand Forks, ND and for Lake Chevrolet in Devils Lake, ND. Leland then worked for Bean and Grain Elevator as a manager and Grain Buyer for 20 years, retiring in 1994. Lee and Del moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1997 to be closer to family. Leland is a Life Member of Elks and Eagles Lodge and a member of the Lakota Lutheran Church. Memorials may be left to Friendship Haven.
