Leo P. Kueny a.k.a "The Fabulous Koonay", 84, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, June 23, 2017 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Deacon Dan Carney officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery where military rites will be presented by the US Army Honor Guard and the VFW Post 1856. A visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Leo is survived by his sister-in-law, Carol Kueny; caregivers, Conrad Peterson; Joy Jenkins; Carmen Peterson; Jana Reekers and her children, Makayla and Jake; Trish Jacobson and many nieces and nephews. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Regina (McGuire) Kueny; brothers, John, Jim, Norm, and Earl Kueny; sister, Mary Peterson; and significant other, Tamara McConnell. Leo P. Kueny was born October 31, 1932 in Danbury, Iowa. When he was young, Leo and his family moved to Fort Dodge. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School. In 1951, Leo enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in November of 1954. In 1983, Leo met Tamara McConnell and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Leo was first employed with Chuck Doyle Floor Service and then Woodruff Evans. As a skilled carpenter, Leo operated his own business until his retirement. Leo loved to fish and watch sports. He was an avid reader and history buff. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
