Leola J Mundt

Gowrie- Leola J. Mundt, 90, passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 7, 2021 at United Methodist Church, Gowrie with Pastor Susan Rohden officiating. Burial will follow in Gowrie Township Cemetery. A visitation will be noon Monday until the start of the service at the church. Masks are optional. Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Leola J. Hedeen, daughter of Frank and Ona (Sells) Hedeen was born December 23, 1930 in the rural Gowrie area. Leola graduated Gowrie High School with the class of 1948. She was united in marriage with Paul Mundt June 18, 1949. They lived in Farnhamville until moving to a farm near Rinard in 1953. They later moved to their farm in the Farnhamville area. In 1966, she became employed as a secretary-receptionist at Cedar Valley School for 20 years. Following their retirement, the couple moved to Gowrie. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Gowrie, Community Womens Club, and Monday Morning Bible Study group for several years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul in 2008; and brothers, Hollis (Dessie), Roy (Dolores), and Franklin (Bernice). Leola is survived by her children, Richard Mundt and Paula (Don) Wiklander all of Gowrie; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great granddaughter whom is on the way. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
