Callender Lester E. Larson 85, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church, Callender, with Pastor Greg Stano and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Burial of casket will be at Callender Cemetery, with Military Rites by the American Legion Peterson Post #431 of Gowrie. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at the Church until service time. Those attending the visitation and service are asked to observe social distancing practices and masks are optional. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is in charge of arrangements. Lester is survived by his wife Carla; children, Sherri (Kevin) Ferrell of Ft. Dodge, Shelli Larson of Callender, and Scott (Peggy) Larson of Callender; grandchildren, Jason, Jesseca, Justin, Jennifer, Jacey, and Caden; great-grandchildren, Jaxton, Kashton, and Londyn; brother Dick (Clara) Larson of Callender; sister-in-law Alice Larson of Callender; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Edna (Youngquist) Larson; son Shawn Larson; grandson Coleman Larson; and brothers, Marvin and Ed Larson. Lester E. Larson was born July 13, 1935 at Fort Dodge and graduated from the Callender High School. Les served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Les was united in marriage to Carla J. Doster and the couple established their home in Callender. Les operated Larson Oil Company until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
