Lillian J. Hentges, 96, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Friday January 4, 2013 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at 9:45 a.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Moorland with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday where there will be a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Survivors include her son Ron Newsum and his wife Joan of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Gregory A. Newsum of Ames and Brian D. Newsum of Grimes as well as several nieces and nephews; and sister-in-laws She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline (Folaytar) Svetly, second husband, Clement Hentges in 2010, sister, Helen Lippert, and a brother, James Svetly. Lillian J. Svetly was born on February 18, 1916 in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated in Fort Dodge, her family moved to Moorland, where she graduated from High School in 1934. She worked for Pfaff Baking for a number of years. On February 18, 1938 she married Lyle Newsum. He passed away in 1939. Lillian then worked for Lazy Ike for 29 years retiring in 1978. On June 24, 1950 she was united in marriage to Clement Hentges at Corpus Christi Church. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Lillian was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Moorland, the Moorland Rosary Society, and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Memorial may be left to the discretion of the family.
