Services to celebrate Lisa will be held at Laufersweiler Funeral Home on Thursday, October 27, 2022 with visitation beginning at 10:00am and the service beginning at 11:00 am. Lisa is preceded by her wife Elaine Weidlein and her parents - father Lowell Neet, mother Joyce Vigdal Neet, and stepfather Leo Halbur. Lisa's surviving family includes sister Vickie Neet Davis and her husband Michael, brother Allan Neet and his wife Viviana, and sister Valerie Neet and her partner Reggie Cartee; niece Jamie Davis Welch and her husband Rob and their children Julie, Rachael, and Ryan; nephew Justin Harmon and his son Dylan; nephew Nathan Davis and his wife Yvette and their children Mahlia and Jacob; niece Naomi Cartee and her daughter Autumn; and niece Cory Cartee. Lisa also leaves her wife Elaine's children, Cathy Weidlein-Lambert, Wendy Weidlein, Billy Weidlein, and their families as well as many other family members, friends, and her beloved cats. Lisa was born on May 24, 1961, in Fort Dodge; graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1980 and remained a resident until her passing. She served our country in the US Marine Corp from October 1981 until August 1984 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Lisa retired from the US Postal Service in June 2021 after more than 20 years of service. Lisa met her wife Elaine Weidlein in 1996 and they remained committed to each other until Elaine's passing in January 2017. They created a beautiful home together, always welcoming family and friends. Lisa's family was a particularly important part of her life and she especially loved her nieces and nephews. Her sharp wit and sense of humor always kept everyone on their toes. She loved to cook, make limoncello, watch football, listen to music, and spend time on family genealogy. Instead of flowers, Lisa's family requests donations be made to Almost Home - Humane Society of North Central Iowa, a non-profit, "no-kill" facility funded solely by donations. They provide shelter, food, and veterinary services and facilitate the adoption of animals. Lisa and Elaine were passionate about animals; a donation would be a lovely way to remember and honor them.
