Lois Caroline Dencklau, age 86, died peacefully with her family by her side at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge, IA on Friday, March 12, 2021. Lois was born at her family's home near Vincent, IA. on May 20, 1934. She was the daughter of Walter and Olga (Hansch) Telschaw. Lois graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1952 and attended community college for one year. She married Delmar Dencklau in 1954 and divorced in 1979. She worked at Blue Ribbon Distributing and First American Bank and retired from Schnurr and Company in 1999. Lois enjoyed volunteering for many community organizations including Trinity Regional Hospital, Foster Grandparent program, and was a member of the Lioness Club and past president, American Legion Auxiliary, on BLAST advisory board, Artful Dodger and MLK Board. Lois was strong in her faith. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church near Vincent. She was a longtime member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Lois enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, gardening, walking, coffee at Hy-Vee, Iowa State football, and politics. She enjoyed traveling and her ultimate vacation was a trip to Hawaii in 2001. She is survived by two sons, Terrence (Lana Shumaker) Dencklau, Jeffrey (Debra) Dencklau, two granddaughters, Andrea Dencklau (Jesse Crawford), Kara (Dencklau) Hart (William "Jodye" Hart IV), six great-grandchildren Eleanor Crawford, Clara Crawford, William "Wylder" Hart V, Kali Hart, Derrick Brinkley, Tatiana Hart; sister Janice Kloss and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Gary Dencklau, sisters Mildred Bothe, Evelyn Quick, Alice Quick, and brother Delbert Telschaw. Lois will be remembered as independent, loving, and resilient. Her legacy will endure as her specially crafted recipes continue to be holiday staples in her granddaughters' holiday meals. Although Alzheimers impacted her memory and ability to communicate, her personality continued to shine through her loving spirit and ability to sing. She will always be remembered as someone who hugged everyone she met. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Badger. A visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler Funeral Home.
