Rockwell City Lois I. Buttolph 95, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Accura Healthcare of Pomeroy. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2019 at St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, Rockwell City, with Pastor James Hoover Mossman officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Cemetery in Fonda. *****************Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Church until service time.********************* Lois is survived by her children, Roger Buttolph of Auburn, WA, Linda Rohrick of Des Moines, and Rex "Duf" (Marty) Buttolph of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandsons, Lance Buttolph, and Jeff Rohrick; one great-grandchild, Sydney Buttolph; and other relatives and friends. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Lyle; daughter Roxene; her parents, Grover and Clara Rosenberger Passow; son-in-law Dick Rohrick; daughter-in-law Catherine Buttolph; and grandson Kyle Buttolph. Lois Irene Passow Buttolph was born January 2, 1924 on a farm west of Lytton, Iowa. She attended Williams Township country school and graduated from Pomeroy High School, with the Class of 1941. On January 25, 1942 she was united in marriage to Lyle A. Buttolph at Pomeroy. The couple farmed in the Fonda area until moving to a farm west of Rockwell City in Twin Lakes Township. Lois furthered her education and graduated from Fort Dodge Beauty Academy in 1958. She established Lois Beauty Shop in Rockwell City, and also a beauty shop at Sunnyview Independent Living, until her retirement in 1982. In 2002, they made their permanent residence at their lake home at North Twin Lakes. Lyle passed away in 2009. In 2018, Lois became a resident of Accura Healthcare of Pomeroy. Lois was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran & Presbyterian Church, and Rockwell City Lions Club. She was instrumental along with her husband Lyle and helped establish the Rockwell City RV Park. Lois was a committed volunteer, earning the 2015 Governors Volunteer Award, and was recognized nationally for her volunteer work with Good Sams Camping Club. She was proud to have knitted over 640 baby caps for the Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, and also knitted caps for the disabled. Lois was a 30-year Hospice Volunteer and was recognized with the 1990 Volunteer of the Year award. She enjoyed traveling, camping, dancing, knitting, and playing cards.
