Lonnie D. Lasher, 75, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home after a well-fought 8 year battle with cancer. A Visitation to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Linda; daughter, Lori (Lynn) Lasher of Yetter, IA; son, Wesley (Debra) Lasher of Algona, IA; son, Aaron Lasher of Lake City, IA; son, Owen (Tasha) Lasher of Boone, IA; daughter, Rachel (Rusty) Seil of Lake City; daughter, Amy (Donavon) Smith of Lake City; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; sister, Marlene (Roger) Glasnapp of Lytton, IA; and his sister, Janene (Willis) Shuey of Salida, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Doris (Pollock) Lasher; grandson, Eric Findley; and 2 infant brothers, Delwin and Larry Lasher. Lonnie D. Lasher was born on February 6, 1940 in Lake City and baptized at the Woodlawn Christian Church. He was raised and educated in Lake City; graduating from Lake City High School in 1958. Lonnie then went to work for a logging camp in Minnesota until 1959, when he went to work for Union Pacific Railroad. In 1961, Lonnie was united in marriage to Vera Holder and the couple lived in Nebraska before moving to Lake City. They were later divorced. For a few years he farmed, until going to work for Milwaukee Railroad in 1965. From 1967 to 1971, he worked for the General Telephone Co. In 1973, Lonnie graduated from Iowa Central Community College with his degree in Telecommunications. In 1976, he was united in marriage to Susan Zackert, the couple were later divorced. He taught Electronics for Iowa Central Community College for 27 years, retiring in 2000. In 2002, Lonnie moved to Fort Dodge where he met Linda Long and the couple got married in 2010. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, sharing his sense of humor, and visiting a casino every now and then. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
