Lyle L. Fridolfson

Rockwell City Lyle L. Fridolfson 83, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his home. A visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City, followed by a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Lyle LeRoy Fridolfson was born September 19, 1939 on the Pirie farm near Gowrie, Iowa to Frank and Eva (Mead) Fridolfson. He lived in Humboldt and Lehigh during his early schooling. Lyles mother, sister Ada and brother-in-law Frank DeGroote were killed in a car accident near Duncombe in 1951. Lyle graduated from Dayton High School, with the Class of 1958, where he was editor of the yearbook and a music performer. Following his education, Lyle worked in food service for most of his life including the Madrid Nursing Home, the Dayton Nursing Home, Gowrie Care Center, Manson Good Samaritan Home, Fort Dodge Congregate Meals, and the Webster Co. Prison. In 1960, he married Sandra Lawton and three children, Joseph, Denise, and Tony, were born to this union, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren from Minnesota. The couple later divorced. In 1989, he was united in marriage to Ruth Creger in Gowrie. The couple made their home in Gowrie along with Ruths sons, Jeffrey, Grant, Matthew, and Michael Creger. Lyle and Ruth later moved to Somers, before establishing their home in Rockwell City. Lyle enjoyed his old cars; Packards, Fords, Buicks and an AMC Marlin. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, one sister; and a brother-in-law. He is survived by his wife Ruth of 33 years; step-sons, Jeff (Sheila) Creger of Clear Lake, Grant (Kristine Williams) of rural Woodward, Matt (Mandy) Creger of Fort Dodge, and Michael Creger of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Aliyah, Ty, Andrew Creger, Chloe and Caden Creger; step-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kelsey Williams; and other relatives and friends. Lyle was an Iowa farm boy who made a lot of wonderful food for Iowas older population in his lifetime and was very proud of his family and Swedish Heritage.
