Lynn Mikelson

Lynn R. Mikelson, 83, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Simpson Health Center at Friendship Haven.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years Marla of Fort Dodge, children Michael Hawley of Badger, Kimberly Lagmiri (Sam) of Cape Coral, FL, Deborah Mikelson of West Des Moines, Michele Mikelson of Fort Dodge, Amy Gordon (John) of Webster City, Shellee Ressler (Terry) of Fort Dodge, grandchildren Amber Fraher (Michael), Kelsie Lee (Joe), MaKenzie Kelly (Kenny), Hanna Lagmiri, Madison Lagmiri, Jami Wiederien (Colin), Nathan Hepperle, Kali Mikelson, Cameron Gordon (Hailee), Caden Gordon, Shaylee Gordon, Matthew Lindner, Jenny Lindner, and Derreck Ressler, great grandchildren Morgan Becker, Isaiah Loehr, Caiden Fraher, Macie Becker, Laila Fraher, Cael Fraher, Camden Fraher, Hayes Hawley-Kelly, Henry Kelly, Peyton Wiederien, Hayden Wiederien, Leo Edwards, and Oaklynn Gordon, sister Darlene Woodward of Phoenix, AZ, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Vera and Jay Mikelson, sons Troy Lindner & Bart Scheer, and his brothers Richard, Harold, Roger, Larry Mikelson.

Lynn Randall Mikelson was born on February 9, 1942 in Clarion, IA. He was raised and educated there graduating from Clarion High School in 1960. Lynn then attended and graduated from Iowa State University with his degree in accounting. He went to work at Iowa Beef for a short time and then went to work at Hormel. On the weekends Lynn also ran Ridgewood Bowling Alley for many years. In 1969, he was united in marriage to Patricia (Lennon) Hawley and their children included Michael, Kim, Deborah, Michele, and Amy. The couple were later divorced. In 1981, Hormel moved his job to Fremont, NE, where he would drive home from every weekend to be with his family. On May 2, 1987 he was united in marriage to Marla Scheer. The couple really enjoyed going out and dancing. Lynn worked at Hormel for 45 years and retired in 2014. He was an avid bowler and even won a car from a bowling tournament in college. In 2004, Lynn was inducted to Fort Dodge Area BA Hall of Fame for bowling. Lynn was always there for his family, and he enjoyed going to amusement parks, concerts, movies, and bowling with them. He was a great husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa.
