Mahasin Zakiyah Al-Hameed (Short), 44, of Humboldt, Ia passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022. A visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 18, 2022 in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery. Mahasin is survived by her fiance, William Short of Humboldt; daughters, Breonnah Al-Hameed-Foy, Raquel Al-Hameed-Foy, and Shania Al-Hameed-Foy (Ty Jr.) all of Fort Dodge, Ia; grandsons, Brayshawn and Jaxton; mother, Tauheedah Al-Hameed of Fort Dodge; brothers, Ahmad, Amin (Samantha), Hamidullah (Terri), Hammad (Joelaine), Zakee (Melanie), Waliyullah (Noah); sisters, Ameedah, Asselah, Wafa, Wala, Nimat (Raymond) Prewitt, Ziyadah (Don) Al-Hameed Gillis, Zarinah Johnson, and Nadirah; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mahasin Al-Hameed was preceded in death by her son, Otis Charles Foy Jr.; father, Wali Muneer Al-Hameed; and sister, Ulrica Lawson Mathis. Mahasin Al-Hameed was born July 4, 1977, in Fort Dodge. She attended area schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1995. She furthered her education at Iowa Central Community College and graduated with her AA in Elementary Education. In 2002, she met the man she would spend the next 20 years of her life with, William Short. On April 13, 2019, the couple were engaged. Mahasin worked for various fast food restaurants and industrial sites, Electrolux, Liguria Foods and most recently was in production at Prestage Foods in Eagle Grove. Mahasin was always the life of the party. She could often be seen singing and dancing. She enjoyed writing poetry and loved to talk. She took pride in decorating her home and loved to clean. Above everything else, she was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren, helping them to grow up in the world. Everything she did was for her babies and grand babies. She was extremely proud of them all. Mahasin cherished her time spent with her family and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
