Margaret C. Faine

Blessed with a happy, full life, Margaret Caroline Faine passed away at Friendship Haven on August 26, 2022. She was 106 years old. Family funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Margaret was born November 18, 1915 in Johnson Township to parents Herman and Susie Peltz. She grew up on a farm in a family of eleven children and was educated in a one-room country school. Going with a brother to a dance at the Laramar Ballroom, she met Greeno Faine. They were married in 1937 and continued to dance all their married life. Greeno died in 1993. Margaret was a homemaker, always cooking and baking and most important, being a loving mother to her four children. After her children were grown, she enjoyed working in women's retail. She was a past member of D.O.E.S. and an 84-year member of the First Presbyterian Church. Left to cherish her memory are children Janet Zabel, Dr. James (Jan) Faine, Dr. John (Amy) Faine, eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her ten siblings, her husband Greeno Faine, daughter Joann Steck, son-in-laws Will Zabel and Dr. Sid Steck, and grandson Dr. Kirk Steck.
