Rockwell City Margaret M. "Peggy" Fitzgerald 97, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, Fort Dodge. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Father Lynn Bruch officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial of casket will be at St. James Cemetery in Clare. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 27, at the Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Peggy is survived by her children, Mark (Ruth Clancy) Fitzgerald of Windsor, CO, Dan (Jody) Fitzgerald of Rockwell City, Carol (Ken) Hupton of Rockwell City, and Jane (Jeff) McFarland of Castle Rock, CO; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; sister Teresa (Robert) Sexton of Manson; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband James Fitzgerald; sons, John and Edward Fitzgerald; her parents, John and Lucy (Gilligan) Collins; and brother Edward Collins. Margaret Mary Collins was born September 10, 1924, at Clare, Iowa. She graduated from St. Matthew High School, with the Class of 1941, and attended Mt. Mercy University in Cedar Rapids. On February 26, 1943, she was united in marriage to James Fitzgerald at St. Matthew Church in Clare. They established their home on a farm north of Clare where they farmed for 18 years. The couple moved to Humboldt until moving to Florida in 1970. Peggy worked as a medical transcriptionist for Bay Memorial Hospital in Panama City, Florida until her retirement in 1986. In 1999, James passed away. In 2007, Peggy made her home in Rockwell City. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, St. Francis Funeral Committee, Depot People, Lions Club, Moose Lodge in Florida, and VFW Auxiliary.
