Margaret Walsh

November 1, 1925 — September 4, 2023

Margaret (Peggy) Walsh, 97, of Fort Dodge passed away Monday, September 4 at Trinity Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday September 8th, Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating. Burial will follow at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 AM Friday at Holy Trinity with service to follow at 11:00 AM.

Margaret is survived by her children: Nick (Vicki) of St. Charles, IA, Kenny (Anna), Barry (Connie), Kathleen (Jim) Schreier and Mary Ann Black all of Fort Dodge and her sister, Esther Thwaite of England. Grandchildren include Teresa (Jeff) Nelson, Brian (Lori) Walsh, Denis Kelleher, Michael (Samantha) Kelleher, Lucas (Marissa) Kelleher, Kevin (Laura) Kelleher, Patrick (Abee) Kelleher, Carrie Rock, Amy (Luke) Moffitt, Sara (Nick) Carlson, Toni (Joe Seca) Schreier and Jaci (Matt Studer) Schreier; sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews both in the US and England.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clement; son-in-law, Jerry (JB) Black; her parents and siblings: William, Thomas, Irene, Robert, Florence, Kenneth and Edna Fisher and Joyce Wilkinson; sisters-in-law, Edith and Sheila Fisher; brothers-in-law, Austin Wilkinson and Kenneth Thwaite.

Margaret was born and raised in Eccles, Manchester, England to William and Martha (Grundy) Fisher. Following her education, she was employed by Shell Oil. On January 10, 1946, she married Clement Walsh in Manchester. They farmed near Coalville before moving to Fort Dodge in 1958. She was a homemaker, Sales Representative for World Book Encyclopedia, member of Toastmasters, Post Office Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters. She served as Girl Scout leader, manager of Catholic Charities Clothing Store and assisting at many funeral liturgies as lector and eucharistic minister.

Margaret enjoyed baking, sewing, knitting, cake decorating, gardening, writing letters, working with stained glass and making delicious malts for her grandchildren whenever requested. She was a most loving mother who lavished her children and grandchildren with her unconditional love and support. She displayed countless acts of kindness and generosity toward everyone she met. She will be dearly missed.

A special thanks to the staff of Arbor Lane, Friendship Haven who provided mom with excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be left to discretion of the family.
