Marian Ann Messerly

Marian A. Messerly, 88, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sara Hill officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home. Marian is survived by her husband, Lloyd; children, Pam McVey and her husband Bill of Marshalltown; Dana Messerly and his wife Debbie of Olathe, KS; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Norma deNeui of Minnetonka, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Mabel (Hilton) Pingel; two brothers; four sisters; and grandson, Billy McVey. Marian Ann Pingel was born May 3, 1927 in Fort Dodge. She attended Fort Dodge Schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. On June 10, 1945 Marian was united in marriage to Lloyd Messerly. The couple first established their home on a farm northeast of Fort Dodge and then in 1959 they moved into Fort Dodge. Besides being a loving homemaker, Marian worked at the Boston Store, Yarn House, and then Dee's Hallmark before retiring. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
