Marian Alice Hendrickson was born to William O. and Esther (Lundgren) Hendrickson on May 12, 1921, at her grandmother's home in Fort Dodge, Iowa. While growing up on the family farm in Clay Township of Webster County, she attended the Lundgren country school through 8th grade and then Burnside High School. During her high school years, she was active in Girls Glee Club and took part in girls athletics. At the age of 16, she attended Fort Dodge Junior College and went on to receive her RN Degree from St. Joseph's in Fort Dodge in 1943. Marian worked in private duty home nursing until 1949 when she became employed at the Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge. She worked in the nursing field for 36 years and retired in 1979 as the charge nurse of the 2W surgical floor. Marian was a member of First Covenant Church where she played the piano and was active in church circle. She was very involved with the Hi-League, often driving the youth to activities at Covenant sister congregations in the area. She often entertained the youth in her home. She also entertained her many neighborhood and church friends at her home and every year she would invite them to her home for a Christmas dinner. Marian enjoyed traveling with her friends to her annual trips to Okoboji and going to visit her relatives in Dalum, Sweden. Marian was proud of her Swedish heritage. Her grandmother immigrated from Sweden to Iowa in 1884. In her grandmother's older years, Marian cared for her in her home. Her grandmother and her mother taught her to speak Swedish and could converse quite well in an old-fashioned Vestergota accent. Marian, often known by many of her friends as Henry, lived in her home until November 15, 2010, when she moved to Friendship Haven - Kenyon Place. On January 27, 2016, Marian transferred to Friendship Haven's Health Care Center. While there she enjoyed a special day celebrating her 95'h birthday with her relatives and many friends. Due to congestive heart failure, she recently went on Hospice Care and on April 23, 2022, she went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 100 years, 11 months and 11 days. This is the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm I 18:24! Marian is survived by several cousins here and in Sweden.
