Marian J Abdalla

Marian J. Abdalla, 98, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Corpus Christi Church with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home is serving the family. Marian Josephine Meis was born August 3, 1920 in LeMars, Iowa. She attended area schools and graduated from St. Joseph's High School. During WWII she was employed at the General Services Administration in Omaha, NE. In September of 1944, she was united in marriage to Toofie Abdalla at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Omaha. The couple moved to Fort Dodge in 1949 where they owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store. Marian was later employed by Webster County and retired in December of 1985. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Corpus Christi Guild, Webster County Welfare Association and the American Legion Auxiliary. As an avid bowler she was a member of the Iowa Woman's Bowling Association. She was a Hawkeye and Chicago Cub fanatic. Marian is survived by her daughters, Beverly Kollasch of Carroll and Luann Gold of West Des Moines; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Janet of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Katherine (Roerig) Meis; husband Toofie Abdalla; six brothers and four sisters. Memorials may be left to family discretion.
