Marian Jo Hawkinson

Worthington, Minnesota Marian J. Hawkinson 90, formerly of Worthington, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Memory Garden Cemetery, Worthington, Minnesota, with Pastor Doug White officiating. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Marian is survived by her daughter Ramona Roos of Rockwell City, Iowa; grandson Thomas (Alicia) Roos of Spencer, Iowa; granddaughter Karen Roos of Ankeny, Iowa; twin great-grandsons, Foster and Brayden Roos of Spencer, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlynn "Skip" Hawkinson; her parents, Ben and Helen (Schumm) DeGuise; and son-in-law Keith Roos. Marian Jo DeGuise was born November 18, 1931 and grew up on a farm near Worthington, Minnesota. She graduated from Worthington High School. She attended Abbott Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis where she earned her Registered Nurse Degree. On August 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Arlynn "Skip" Hawkinson. Marian worked as a nurse at the Worthington Regional Hospital and at area nursing homes. The last 26 years of her nursing career, Marian worked as an occupational plant nurse for the Campbell Soup Company in Worthington. Skip and Marian owned and operated the Crystal Glass Company until their retirement. The couple raised registered quarter horses for many years and enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. Marian spent the last four years residing at Friendship Haven, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
