Gowrie - Marie E. Hockemeier, 100, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Aspire of Gowrie Care Center. Memorial Services will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Farnhamville with Pastor Aaron Zimmerman officiating. A visitation will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Church until service time. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is serving the family. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Survivors include her grandchildren, Crystal (Chris) Searles of Gowrie, Jeff (De) Miller of Peoria, Matthew (Lisa) Hockemeier of Ogden, Jennifer Miller Hannani of Peoria, Corey (Annette) Hockemeier of Paton, and Julie (Bo) Cheesman of Peoria; 16 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death were her parents; 4 brothers; first husband Clarence Hockemeier; husband Donald Ferguson; daughter Phyllis Miller; son Rudy Hockemeier; and grandson Tracy Hockemeier. Marie E Hockemeier, daughter of William and Emma (Koenke) Dencklau, was born August 9, 1922, at Vincent, lowa. Marie attended country school in Vincent. She was united in marriage with Clarence Hockemeier on April 9, 1944, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vincent. They farmed in the Gowrie area for many years and moved into Gowrie in 1978. After Clarence's death, she was united in marriage with Donald Ferguson in 1998. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Farnhamville. Marie enjoyed farming and gardening. She worked with chickens while employed at Farm Egg, Larson Labs, HyVac/HyLine. She baked pies for Lizer Livestock and birthday cakes for the Gowrie skating rink. Putting on garage sales brought her joy, especially around the 4th of July.
