Marie Margaret Prendergast

Marie M. Prendergast, 93, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday June 1st, in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home & 10:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church with Rev. Shane Deman officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. all at the funeral home. Marie is survived by her daughter, Diane and husband Mervin Kearney of Fort Dodge; daughter-in-law, Angie Prendergast of Urbana, Illinois; grandchildren, Tammy (Kevin) Carroll, Dana (Marcela) Kearney, Navara Prendergast, Alisa (Ray) Perry, Shan (Heather) Prendergast, Tal (Jamie) Prendergast, and Meghan (Sven) White; great grandchildren, Patrick Carroll, Colin Carroll, Danielle Dodd, Desiree Carroll, Luke Prendergast, and Emma Prendergast, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and son, she was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Cecelia (Bing) Blunk; brothers, George and Gene Blunk; and her sister, Joella Chambers. Marie M. Blunk was born to Dan and Cecelia Blunk, November 23, 1919, on a farm northwest of Moorland. She attended Moorland and Fort Dodge schools. On March 30, 1938, she was united in marriage to Orville J. Prendergast at Corpus Christi Church. The couple farmed northwest of Fort Dodge all their married life. She was a homemaker and loved her family and friends. Marie enjoyed playing cards with friends and doing the yard work. Orville passed away October 8, 1972. She remained on the farm after his death. Their son, James D. Prendergast, passed away on September 22, 1987. Marie was a long time member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Ladies Guild. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
