Knierim Marilyn L. Strutzenberg 81, passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at Kennybrook Village in Grimes. Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Knierim, with Pastor Chadric Dietrich officiating. Burial of ashes will be at Greenfield Township Cemetery, Knierim. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Church until service time. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is serving the family. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Joe) Gilg of Urbandale; sons, Dan (Jann) Strutzenberg of Council Bluffs, and Jon (Shaun) Strutzenberg of Winnebago, Illinois; grandchildren, Katie (Joe) Cannia of Bellevue, NE, Brian Gilg of Urbandale, Aunna (Zach) Petitt of Bellevue, NE, and Abigail Strutzenberg of Council Bluffs; great-grandson Oliver Cannia; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce Strutzenberg; and her parents, Albert and Rose (Black) Zeckser. Marilyn Lou Zeckser was born July 12, 1941 at Fort Dodge, Iowa. She graduated from Manson High School, with the Class of 1959. In 1961, she was united in marriage to Bruce Strutzenberg. The couple lived in several communities and in 1981, they made their home on a farm south of Knierim. Bruce taught school at Prairie Valley Schools and Marilyn also worked various jobs at the school including driving school bus. Bruce passed away in 2016. In 2019, Marilyn moved to Kennybrook Village in Grimes. Marilyn was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
