Maris August Doster

Maris A. Doster, 92,of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, March 12, 2022 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Nicholas Thackery officiating. A private family burial will be held. A visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday at Laufersweiler Funeral Home. Maris is survived by his wife Joan Doster; son Steve (Shelly) Doster; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and half sister, Susie Swensen. He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Florence (Hasselbring) Doster and daughter Marsha Doster. Maris August Doster was born June 25, 1929 in Barnum. He graduated Valedictorian of the Barnum High School Class of 1948. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air National Guard and served until his Honorable Discharge in July of 1951. On November 17, 1956 he was united in marriage to Joan Cook. The couple made their home and farmed in the Barnum area until moving to Fort Dodge in 2002. The couple were longtime members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Knierim and became members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge when they moved to the area. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to a charity of your choice.
