Callender - Mark Loehr Knutson 68, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Callender collapsed suddenly at home and passed away enroute to the hospital on the evening of May 1, 2022. Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, April 22, 2023 (PLEASE NOTE DATE) at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Callender with Pastor Greg Stano and Pastor Deb Stano officiating. Burial will be in Callender Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie is in charge of arrangements. Mark is survived by his sisters Sheri Schwabe of Tustin, California and Kimberly (Gary) Brown of Ely, Iowa; nieces, Marci (Joe) Vahey and Michelle (Kyle) Alkema; Madde (Dan Gillen) Brown and Jayden Brown; nephew Mike (Laurie) Schwabe; great nieces, Claire and Reilly Vahey, great nephews, Tom Vahey and Justin (Kim) Kingsbury; great-great nieces and nephews, Rain Schwabe, Wyatt and Aubrey Kingsbury. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Donna and Keith Knutson of Callender; brother-in-law Jerry Schwabe, and great niece Shea Schwabe. Mark Loehr Knutson was born August 3, 1953 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He grew up in Callender, Iowa, graduating from Prairie High School in 1971. Mark went to Radiology school at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines graduating in 1978. Mark worked many years in the Des Moines area as a Radiologic Technologist. Mark continued his education attending the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines graduating as a Physicians Assistant. Mark worked as a PA at the Iowa Occupational Industrial Medicine clinic from 1988 to 1990, before moving to Las Vegas and continuing his PA work there. Mark worked for Desert Orthopedic Center for 10 years, Summit Medical Center 3 years and 12 years at McKenna Pain Management Clinic retiring in 2015. When Mark was not working, he was the first person at a garage sale or estate sale or flea market. Mark loved a bargain, loved buying and selling on Craigs List, and loved antiques and collectibles. His house is a museum of his collecting over many years. Marks sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He loved to tease and embarrass everyone as much as possible and was great at it! Mark was able to keep many good friends over long distances for years, a tribute to how loyal he was as a friend and had the same commitment and dedication to his family. He will be greatly missed.
