Marlene Frances Bittner was born on September 14, 1934, in Fort Dodge. She was raised and educated here graduating from Corpus Christi High School. On February 15, 1958, she was united in marriage to Arthur King and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge and later they settled on a farm just north of town. Besides being a homemaker, Marlene worked for 14 years at Sears from 1977 to 1991. Family was the most important thing in Marlene’s life, she would never miss a child’s game or event and so very proud of all of them. She loved to treat each of her family as though each were very special to her. Being social, Marlene knew how to do that – she was a member Holy Trinity Church, Catholic Daughters of America, American Legion Auxiliary, Card Club, Sears Coffee Group, Casino Group, Book Club and for years served on the funeral lunch committee at Sacred Heart Church.
