Rockwell City - Marlene M. Stacy 88, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Shady Oaks Care Center, Lake City. A Celebration of Life will be 4:30 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022 at the United Methodist Church, Rockwell City. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home, Rockwell City is assisting the family. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunnyview Independent Living, Rockwell City. Marlene Hildreth Stacy was born August 16, 1933 in Lohrville, Iowa, to Chris and Adena Barkmeier Hildreth. She attended school in Rinard, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1951 at Lohrville High School. Marlene married Ted Stacy June 3, 1951, and they became the parents of Tim Stacy and Amy Stacy Courter. Marlene always dreamed of being a teacher so when she was in her 30s, she started college at Iowa Central Community College, which was located at the high school in Fort Dodge at that time. Marlene started with night school to see if she could do it and then deciding she could do it, started full time college classes after the first semester, receiving her teaching degree from Buena Vista college and doing her practice teaching in Sac City. She taught elementary students in Rockwell City for 13 years and 10 years at the North Central Correctional Facility, retiring in 1996. Marlene and Ted enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona for many years. They became residents at Sunnyview Independent Living in 2009. Marlene loved spending time with family and was the best hostess that ever lived. She loved reading, playing bridge, and going to Bible Study. Preceding Marlenes death were her parents Chris and Adena Hildreth, brothers, James and Chester Hildreth, sister Pauline Carlson, and great grandchild Matthew Brenden. She is survived by her brother Boyd Hildreth of Palm Springs, California, her husband Ted, children Tim and Sandra Stacy of Des Moines, Amy and Kim Courter of Rockwell City, grandchildren Stacy Agnitsch of Fort Dodge, Sara and Luke Brenden of Red Oak, Andrea Stacy of Des Moines, great grandchildren Andrew and Kiara Agnitsch of Fort Dodge, Gary Brenden of Omaha, and great-great grandchild Quinten Brenden as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Marlene enjoyed playing basketball in high school and was the Salutatorian of the class of 1951. She loved to learn! Marlenes children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will remember Mom, Grammy, GG as a thoughtful, caring, kind, selfless, giving, role model. Marlenes friends will remember her as a good listener and someone you could depend on. Marlenes goal in life was to make everybody feel like they are a somebody.
