Marlys A. Frankl, 77, of Fort Dodge, formerly of Roelyn, passed away Thursday August 22, 2013 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Fulton Lutheran Cemetery near Roelyn. A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. before the services at the funeral home. Marlys is survived by her daughters, Julie Frankl; Karen Ferrand; grandson, Tyler Ferrand all of Fort Dodge; and brother, David Luthro of Marshalltown. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gary Thomas Frankl; her parents, Clarence and Sophia (Froisland) Luthro; and brother, Nathan Luthro. Marlys Ann Luthro was born February 26, 1936 in Humboldt. As a young child she and her family moved to a small farm near Moorland. She was educated in Moorland graduating from Moorland High School in 1954. She then worked in the Minneapolis area as a secretary for a short time before moving back to Fort Dodge. On September 9, 1961 she was united in marriage to Gary T. Frankl in Algona. The couple established their home in Mason City and later Fort Dodge. In 1971 the family moved to an acreage near Roelyn. Marlys worked at the public library and was a home child care provider for a number of years. She loved gardening, spending time outdoors, reading, sewing, and cooking. Most of all she loved her daughters. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
