Marlys Huebsch

July 22, 1929 — March 2, 2022

Marlys Huebsch, 93, of Fort Dodge passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the Marian Home. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Holy Trinity Church. A visitation will be one hour prior at the church. Burial will be at Corpus Christi Cemetery. Laufersweiler Funeral Home is serving the family. Marlys Irene Willey was born July 22, 1929, in Vincent, Iowa. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1948 and then attended Junior College in Fort Dodge. On July 10, 1950, Marlys was married to Ronald Huebsch at Holy Rosary Church. The couple made Fort Dodge their home and lovingly raised three children blessed to call her "Mom." Marlys worked for Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric (later Mid-American Energy) for 35 years, until retiring in 1995. Marlys loved to bowl. She was an active member in the Fort Dodge Woman's Bowling Association, even served as a president and was a 20-year-long director for the association. She bowled locally and statewide throughout her adulthood. Marlys was a member of the Fort Dodge Bowling Hall of Fame; a recipient of the Betty Meyer Award, and a WIBC Life Member. She was a past Girl Scout Leader, member of the Catholic Daughters of America, recipient of the CYO Adult Leadership Award and St. Ann Award, and volunteered in various roles in her church, Corpus Christi, later Holy Trinity. Marlys set up a college scholarship fund with St. Edmond and has helped numerous youth achieve their educational goals. We are grateful for her impact to our community and lives. Marlys is survived by her children Rhonda Anderson and her husband Gary of Rosalie, NE, Steven and his wife Joni of Cedar Rapids, and Robert and his wife Kathy of White Bear Lake, MN. She has six grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren She is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Belle (Nelson) Willey, husband Ronald in 2010, and brothers John and Harold Willey. Memorials may be left to Saint Edmond Catholic Schools or Holy Trinity Church.
