Martha Wheat

Martha Wheat, 71, of Fort Dodge, was called home from the Marian Home on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, March 7, 2025 in the chapel of Laufersweiler Funeral Home. A visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Brittany McCaleb; granddaughter, Sadie Anderson; sisters, Linda McDonald, Alice Wheat, Charyl Colvin, and Carolyn Wheat; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Calvina (Dantzler) Wheat; husband, William McCaleb; son, Wade Wheat; sisters, Lillian and Dannie Wheat; and brother, Woodrow Wheat.

Martha Sue Wheat was born on May 19, 1953 in Meridian, Mississippi. She moved to Fort Dodge in 1953 with her family and has lived here ever since. Martha graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1972. She worked for the Globe Union, the telephone company and Celotex for many years. Martha enjoyed doing cryptoquote puzzles, crocheting, playing bingo, reading her bible and babysitting. She was a member of Agape Church. Martha was deeply loved and will be missed by so many including all of her children that she raised and watched over day in and day out. The family would like to express many thank you's to the staff of the Marian Home for their kindness and care of Martha.
